DOT “Reasonable Suspicion” Testing Overview for Managers and Supervisors

This course presents fundamental information for managers and/or supervisors on “Reasonable Suspicion” Drug and Alcohol Testing. Upon completing the course, employees should: Know that federal law specifies six situations where motor carrier employees who perform “safety-sensitive” duties are required to undergo drug or alcohol testing. Understand the responsibilities that motor carrier managers have regarding “reasonable suspicion” testing for drugs or alcohol. Be aware of the types of situations that justify “reasonable suspicion” testing. Know the procedures that managers or supervisors should use to properly administer “reasonable suspicion” testing. Understand that “reasonable suspicion” drug and alcohol testing helps to keep impaired drivers off the road and ensure that public highways are safer for everyone.
